Jim (Moose) Barrows
A Steamboat native, Jim was voted Junior Skier of the Year by the Rocky Mountain News in 1962. At CU, his teammate Spider Sabich and coach Bob Beattie nicknamed him Moose where he went on to become the nation's premier four event skier. At the 1968 Olympics in Grenoble, France, he had a spectacular fall dubbed "the thrill of victory and agony of defeat" that abruptly ended his season. He recovered to win the 1969 North American Downhill Championships.
