Lowell Thomas

 
 

Best known for making Lawrence of Arabia famous, Lowell was a writer and news broadcaster. He first learned to ski during World War I as a correspondent with the Italian Mountain Troops. He skied around the world where his enthusiasm for skiing led to the involvement in launching two ski clubs and the creation of the National Ski Patrol. Through 50 years of broadcasting, he did much to publicize and promote Rocky Mountain skiing.
