Robert Balch
Bob is a Massachusetts native and an architectural graduate from Harvard. He participated in the 1931 Hochgebirge Cup race on Mt. Moosilauke, New Hampshire. He became caretaker of the Arlberg Ski Club’s lodge at the Mary Jane Trail near the Moffatt Tunnel. He was Winter Park’s first manager and was responsible for the installation of its first famous T-bar. Bob was killed during World War II when his troop was torpedoed in the Mediterranean.
