Robert Heron
Bob, a Colorado native, was an engineer who designed passenger tramways for the military. These tramways served the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale. In 1945, he organized the Heron Engineering Company and was president of the company until 1969. His company won recognition for installing the famous #1 chairlift in Aspen, and the construction for the second section to the Sundeck. He provided many resorts with their first fixed grip continuous circulating chairlifts.
