Nominations Open for 2024 Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame

Help Recognize Individuals Who Deserve to be Celebrated and Honored in The State of Colorado’s Official Snowsports Museum and Hall of Fame

VAIL, Colo. - February 5, 2024 The Colorado Snowsports Museum today announces that nominations are open for the 2024 Hall of Fame. Every year, the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame inducts a new class of individuals who deserve to be celebrated among peers and honored in the State of Colorado’s official snowsports museum for their significant impact on the sport and industry of skiing and snowboarding in the State of Colorado.

The Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame relies on the public to help diversify and acknowledge the state's snow sports legends, and everyone is encouraged to submit nominations for the 2024 class.

To learn more about the process, visit https://www.snowsportsmuseum.org/nomination. The current nomination period for the Class of 2024 will close Thursday, February 22, 2024.

-Steve Rieschl and group (Class of 1998)
-Hugh Evans (Class of 2016) and 10th Mountain Division veteran James J. "Jimmy" Nassar
-Shannon Dunn-Downing (Class of 2016)
-Renie and David Gorsuch (Class of 2007 & 2002)

The Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame was created in 1977 to honor Coloradoans. Nominees must have contributed significantly to the sport and industry of skiing and snowboarding in the State of Colorado. Although an individual may have done much on the national or international levels of skiing, the mere fact that he or she chooses to live in the state is not a sufficient qualification. The accomplishments of the individual must have had a direct benefit to Colorado, whether through competition, by encouraging the growth of the sport in the State, or by exporting ideas, talent, techniques, or products developed within the state that went on to have national or international significance. The direct result will be that of enhancing the image of Colorado as a source of snow sports innovation.

Each year, members of the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame voting panel elect new Hall of Fame inductees based on the nominations submitted by the public. The voting panel consists of Hall of Fame members, Museum and Hall of Fame Board and advisory members, and managers from each of Colorado’s snow sports areas. In 2023, Cheryl Jensen, Hilaree Nelson, John Norton, Sandy Shellworth Hildner, and Seth Masia were inducted into the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame inductees are celebrated at the Colorado Snowsports Hall of Fame induction ceremony held every year in the Fall and bringing together Hall of Fame members, athletes, leaders and snowsports enthusiasts from across the State of Colorado and beyond.
