Edna Dercum
In 1936, Edna became the first woman to join Professor Max Dercum’s ski club at Penn State University where she became state downhill and slalom champion in 1941. She went on to marry the professor. She and her husband Max became ski pioneers as they founded the Arapahoe Basin and Keystone ski resorts. She continued skiing well into her 80s, winning more than 50 gold medals, many as a senior-class racer.
