George was born an entrepreneur. He formed Caulkins Oil Company in the 1950s and the contacts and business skills he gained carried over when he moved to Colorado in 1956. As one of Vail’s original eight founding board members, he singlehandedly took on the monumental task of funding Seibert and Eaton’s dream of Vail. He traveled around the nation, and using his former contacts, raised the money to create the world class resort.
