A Colorado native, raised in Golden, Jon grew up skiing at Loveland and Winter Park or wherever he could catch a ride. Throughout his career, Jon has consistently exemplified excellence in cross-country skiing as a coach, guide for the visually impaired, and mentor for numerous athletes. He was both an assistant and head coach for the successful Summit High School Nordic Program for over a decade before joining the U.S. Paralympic Team as a guide for blind athletes. Most notably, Jon guided Michele Drolet, a completely blind athlete in the 1992 Albertville, France Paralympics, and received a bronze medal in the 1994 Paralympics in Lillehammer, Norway. He became head coach of the U.S. Paralympic team from 1998 through 2008. Jon has made a lasting impact on the sport of cross-country skiing in Colorado, the United States, and internationally through his dedication to athletes, his coaching expertise and technical skills, his caring and compassionate approach to inclusivity, and his continued support of skiing in the broader community.
